Season 77 of the Elkhart County Symphony has already been highly successful, and our upcoming annual concert on the campus of Goshen College will showcase a dynamic community collaboration that will inspire our audience!

Mahler #2, The Resurrection, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m., represents our annual event at Sauder Concert Hall at the Goshen College Music Center and features the expanded Elkhart County Symphony with 100 musicians, local vocal ensemble The Camerata Singers, and members of Goshen College Choirs performing Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2—considered by many to be among the renowned composer’s most challenging works. Also on the concert repertoire is the beautiful Serenade to Music by Vaughan Willliams.

A Concert Hall Like No Other

Sauder Concert Hall at the Goshen College Music Center, inspired by the great concert halls of Europe, is renowned for its combination of simple elegance and rare warmth of acoustics and was once described by Vance George—Director Emeritus of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, and an internationally-renowned choral conductor—as “one of the great halls of the world.”

It’s a wondrous setting for Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, also known as the Resurrection Symphony, a complex and emotionally powerful piece of music—from its first movement to its last—that rises toward spiritual transcendence.

The Elkhart County Symphony previously joined forces at Goshen College with The Camerata Singers and Goshen College Choirs in November of 2022 to perform Beethoven’s final complete symphony—Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, also known as Ode to Joy. The 2022 event at Sauder Concert Hall was a sellout, and we expect Mahler #2, The Resurrection, to be equally well-attended and high-spirited. Get your tickets for Mahler #2, The Resurrection today, before it’s too late!
